Personal Study Plan (PSP)

The main purpose of PSP section is to demonstrate how I am planning to complete my journey of being a vocational teacher.  I have started my studies in June 2014 and was planning to graduate in December 2015, but due to my other studies, work, and family I couldn’t graduate that time, and however my plan have changed, and I will graduate on 2019.

As shown on the above figure the pedagogical competence includes 7 components:

1.  Planning competences
2. Implementation competence 
3. Assessment and feedback competence 
4. Competence in developing teaching 
5. Competence in interacting and communicating with a student 
6.  Competence in special needs education 
7.  Competence in using ICT technology in teaching
 
   There were five different scales to assess self-competences as being a Vocational teacher, these scales had been mentioned in the OAMK page and they were as follows:
  1.       Novice 
  2.         Qualified 
  3.          Skillful 
  4.         I= I cannot assess my current competences  
By using these scales, it will provide the person an opportunity to assess his/her self-competence level, therefore I would like to make self-assessment at the beginning of the course to compare with the obtained competences level at the end of this journey.
   
1. Planning competence
Planning competence: (2), in this area I am considering that I am at the beginning level, although I had a chance to plan some courses and exams in our school. At the end of this course, I want to reach level 3, and after practical training I need to reach at level 4, which is skillful. 

2. Implementation competence
Implementation competence: (2), in this area I am considering that I am at the beginning level, as planning competence, but I had implemented some courses and exams in my school.  At the end of this course, I want to reach level 3, and after practical training I need to reach at level 4, which is skillful. 

3. Assessment and feedback competence
Assessment and feedback competence: (3), I have a quite competence in this area; I assess different exams and activities in my school, and after completing this journey I need to reach level 4.
   
4. Competence in developing teaching
Competence in developing teaching: (1), at this time, it is hard to assess my self, but at the end of this journey I hope to reach level 3.

5. Competence in interacting and communicating with a student.
Competence in interacting and communicating with a student: (4), I think I have quite experience in this area. I have tested different culture backgrounds, I speak different languages, and I dealt with multicultural students, and therefore I have practical experience in this area. 

6. Competence in special needs education
Competence in special needs education: (1), in this area I have no experience at all, and I need to learn it.

7. Competence in using ICT technology in teaching
Competence in using ICT technology in teaching: (2), I haven’t used much of ICT technology in teaching, but I hope I can improve easily, since I am good at using technology and social media. At the end of this journey I hope to reach level 4. 


FAMILIARIZING MY SELF WITH THE STUDIES AND PLANNING AHEAD
PERSONAL STUDY PLAN (PSP)

The study module of Vocational teacher education in Oulu University of Applied Science consists of 60 credits. These 60 credits are divided into three parts:

1.  Vocational Pedagogical Themes consist 20 ECTS credits
2.  Basics of educational sciences consist 10 ECTS credits.
3.  Optional Studies consist 12 ECTS credits. 

   The program allows students to complete the diploma for about 1-3 years, and therefore my aim is to finish within three years. Below is my personal study plan (PSP), which explains clearly how I will finish the  long journey of being a vocational teacher.

MY FUTURE AS A VOCATIONAL TEACHER 
I spent most of my life as student either formal or informal, and through that journey I met a lot of teachers. Some of the teachers had no influence on my life. They were just ordinary and teacher-centered and I even forget their names, while some of them had inspired and guided me. I couldn’t for get how they succeeded to affect my personal and professional life positively.

Indeed my dream is to be a mentor and adviser educator, who inspires his students and clients.  My aim is to help the country of my origin and to be part of the education developers in there. The areas of my expertise are including internationalization of companies, Marketing, communication, customer care, entrepreneurship, project management, and personal training.

This diploma (professional teacher training) will give me an opportunity to utilize the above-mentioned expertise in my future career and to become a role model instructor and mentor.
